Moneyball

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Baseball means only money and running from base to base. For this review I will try a new perspective.
The producer of this movie is no other than the star Brad Pitt, who doesn't need any other introduction.
Brad plays the role of a failed baseball player that became the general manager of Oakland Athletics, a small baseball club with an thigh budget that lost in state semifinals a lot.

Blitz

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Blitz is a very entertaining movie starring Jason Statham. Who, not surprisingly, is a bad cop. He beats the crap out of his targets. The movie is directed by Elliot Lester who did a great job at his second directed movie. It's inspired by Ken Bruen novel of Nathan Parker.
The movie is oscillating between thrilling and calm parts, not to say boring. Brant is the bad cop, he beats the crap out of one felony one night in a pool bar, but he never thought that the felony will ever become the Blitz. Now this felony is starting killing every cop that he fined him. Now that's cool hitting the police, but we all know that the police is stronger than any organized mafia, nothing to say about a meaningless felony.
As already discussed, the intrigue is that fight in the pub that triggered the Blitz. At some point in the movie Nash comes in as a replacement of Brant boss Roberts. Nash is a good guy something like Brant maybe worse. He killed a guy instead of investigating him. He makes a good team with Brant and thus they both end up with investigating this cop killer.
After some shifts they almost get to finally prosecute the felony. But he escapes, due to the lack of proofs and a good facebook community that paid him the bail out.
So the movie gets to the point of Roberts funeral, one of Blitz already dead targets. And who do you think gets there? I tell you who, Blitz dressed as a cop ready to make his last victim: Brant. Anyways, because they already know who Blitz is, the cops expect the attempt. So Brant leaves early from Roberts funerals and of course is followed by Blitz.
So I let you to uncover the rest of the story because is one of those thrilling moments that shouldn't be spoiled.
It's a movie made around Jason Statham and the main character Brant. Statham cover the role perfectly in every aspect. He's rough, he has that eyes of a killing hawk, he's also gentle when the movie needs him to be, every aspect of a rough, correct cop is found in Statham's acting. As an average action movie - I say average because it's doesn't make you stare at the movie the whole time eager to see more and more actions - the starring actor makes a great role. In fact I was let down by the many reviews I read before seeing the movie, saying that it's a poor movie, but Jason Statham made me watch this movie.
Also I was impressed by Zawe Ashton, she plays the cocaine addicted cop. She's one of Blitz targets and is under Brant guidance in the police station. She also is trying to help a kid she knew to flee from the felony path he took on.
No more to say about the movie I fled from the theater entertained if somebody asks.
Enjoy the trailer.

The girl with the dragon tattoo

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I watched the movie last night and I find it very attractive.
Of course the movie is not for the ones under 18 years because it contains lot of explicit sex scenes. The movie is based on a Stieg Larsson novel. I can't compare the book with the movie, but the movie made me want to read the book. All the action takes place in Sweden and it's structured on 3 layers. The story is very complex and is nicely shown to the public.
Daniel Craig is doing his best in interpreting an magazine writer. The character is not very polished and I think that Daniel Craig is not fitted for this role. I always picture him as agent 007 so it's hard for me and maybe for others to see him in the posture of a harmless magazine writer.
Rooney Mara is the ugly girl with a dragoon tattooed on her back. And you actually get to see her whole back. Lisbeth Salander is a complex 23 years old girl with a violent background, which hates rapists. The conclusion on this is that she was abused by her father. Actually she is sexually abused in the movie by her social agent, but she thought him a lesson.
All in all the movie was great and kept you entertained till the end. One of the remarks I heard exiting the movie theater was "It totally worth it."
Enjoy the trailer.
